Q
What is EVT's contribution to the video management market; what does EVT do?

EVT offers the security industry a fresh and unique approach to Networked Video Management based on extensive market studies, gathered from the world's leading system integrators, as well as solid software architecture based on purpose built, in-house developed modules, breaking free from archaic concepts constraints.
EVT was the first to introduce Image Content Navigation allowing security operators to continuously tail a moving object within a site of thousands of cameras without having to memorize cameras locations, names and numbers. Another revolutionary feature is the 2.5D Live Video Maps module providing security operators with a unique alternative to the traditional fixed size multi-map tools commonly found in video management applications. These intelligent interactive navigation tools, improve operators' orientation, shorten response time and, contribute to an overall efficiency enhancement of the surveillance system.

  Q
What differentiates EVT's solution from the competition?

EVT's differentiation is three fold:
  • The human factor is often neglected by the competition. EVT's intuitive software is designed to allow all levels of system operators to easily manage and understand even the most complex video surveillance system. Simple operation of the system is especially important in a security event when time is crucial. Furthermore, EVT's easy to use software saves training time and money.
  • EVT's products are market driven, developed specifically to meet feature requirements of leading system integrators. The software's open architecture enables fast response time to integration and customization requirements. Key unique features and tools like the Vertex's Image Content Navigation module and 2.5D Live Video Maps dramatically improve operators' orientation, shortens response time and contributes to an overall efficiency enhancement of a video surveillance system.
  • EVT's flexible licensing scheme is simple and saves money. It allows customers to receive exactly what they need as opposed to most surveillance systems that sell unnecessary features in a bundle. EVT uses off the shelf software to build a system from the core and to deploy the exact number of channels that each user requires. The user pays according to the number of channels and can add on more licenses as required, including transition from Apex to Vertex.

  Q
Many DVR/NVR companies provide their management software free of charge together with their DVR/NVR solution. What are the advantages of EVT's software?

EVT is a software manufacture as opposed to the DVR/NVR companies that are hardware manufactures. The benefits of this are that we focus on delivering a high-end video management system developed specifically to meet feature requirements of leading system integrators and not just another solution to add on to your hardware.
The advantages of EVT's solution are reflected in its flexibility and scalability, enabling future growth to changing security requirements, saving money and increasing the return on investment in the long term. This is especially important in today's business and security environment that is not static and is frequently influenced by the need to expand, merge operations, adapt to new technologies and regulations. EVT's open system approach enables it to work with hardware and software from multiple vendors that best fit the requirements of the user and enable optimal performance. Unlike systems from DVR manufactures that are often dependent on one vendor, EVT's software is easily integrated with new systems/devices.

  Q
Does EVT also supply hardware?

No, EVT is an NVR and VMS software manufacturer independent of hardware. The company does not sell its own hardware (eg. storage hardware, server hardware and client hardware) giving customers the ability to choose the "best of breed" components from multiple vendors, that best fits their requirements and enable optimal performance.

  Q
Is it possible to increase the storage capacity of the system?

Yes, once EVT's NVR server application is installed on a server, it can accommodate for a wide variety of storage solutions and endless quantities of data. This is achieved via connection to as many storage mediums (Raid 5, Hard discs, NAS, SAN) as required, subject to bandwidth and hardware limitations. With potentially large amounts of data being stored, users that require more storage only need to add more disc space.

  Q
What is the difference between EVT's Vertex and Apex?

Vertex, EVT's flagship product, uses distributed client server architecture to deliver an endlessly scalable system, while Apex is designed for smaller deployments requiring no more than 16 channels supported by a single PC as a hybrid DVR/NVR system. The applications are different in order to allow small and large deployments the same control center, so that an organization would only have to work with one type of systems, the flexibility also allows deploying multi-independent systems, large or small, that will all connect to one control center with the Multi System Control Center.

  Q
How can you expand the video management system?

Expanding a system only requires purchasing more channel licenses for the same system.
One of the major benefits of EVT's software is scalability, ensuring the possibility to easily expand and upgrade the system in accordance with security and business needs. For example, expansion from a local site with one server to a multi-server solution accommodating large sites and multi-system solution serving multiple sites. EVT's scalable Vertex enables easy expansion to thousands of channels.

  Q
How can EVT's video management software integrate with a local DVR/NVR system?

In order to enjoy EVT’s advantages and not through away existing DVR’s that are installed on site, many of our customers install the system as a viewing system with short time recording to upgrade the surveillance management of the site at first while keeping the DVR’s for long time archiving . with time the system will also manage the archiving when the DVR’s will fail.
Before integrating with a local DVR/NVR system, it is necessary to receive the Software Development Kit (SDK) that includes, the Application Programming Interface (API), code examples and test tools. Assuming that the SDK is unavailable, EVT takes the video from the DVR in order to record/manage it in the Vertex or Apex. In this case, EVT's VMS is used as an add on system to manage the video with short time recording for real time alert management. The DVR keeps recording the existing cameras and every time more devices are added to the system, they are added via EVT.

  Q
Is it possible to integrate video analytics into EVT's video management system?

Yes, since EVT is an open platform system it seamlessly integrates with video analytics tools from different manufactures under a single interface. This means that you can manage different video analytic tools together as a means to help decrease false alerts, take preventative measures to reduce the consequences of a security incident and make the system simpler to manage. EVT currently offers a combination of video analytic tools from Object Video, Mate, Agent VI, Ioimage, Axis, Panasonic, Mobotix, Emza.

  Q
What languages does EVT's software support?

EVT's software is available in multiple languages providing local users with an easy-to-use interface in their native languages. The software currently supports Italian, Spanish, German, English, Dutch, French, and Russian as well as, Chinese and Korean. Translation of the interface into additional languages is quick and easy.

  Q
If the customer purchase the 2.5D Live Video Map module, can they freely configure a real map on the system PC? I mean if they take picture of their office, building and outside of their office building etc, can they upload this on the system and configure the 2.5 Live Video Map easily?

Yes, the user can insert as many pictures, JPEG or Bitmap, that they want to have as 2.5D maps, the configuration of the 2.5D maps with the intelligent zooming takes a few minutes and is done by dragging and dropping items in the specific zoom level that you would like them to appear at in the control center. Once Configurator the additional maps could be inked from one to another, for example you can have a picture of the building > zoom in > map link to corridor > zoom in > map link to room….

  Q
When working with EVT S/W does the user need to go into the device web page?

EVT’s integrations are seamless, upon integration of a device all of its video, alarm and recording parameters will be configured from the EVT S/W without the need to go into the device web page.
With Video Analytics some of the manufacturers allow complete integration that allows rule configuration from the EVT S/W others still require going to the web page once when deploying the system in order to configure the VMD rules, once done the alerts and arming the device will be done from the EVT S/W.

  Q
Can I receive alerts from other systems into the EVT S/W?

Yes, EVT’s Gateway API allows receiving alerts from any 3rd party system via implementing the DLL’s that are exposed in the Gateway API. The same API also enables extracting video stream and information from the EVT S/W to display in 3rd party systems as well.
Another option is working with dry contact connectors either on the edge device or work with standard IP dry contact edge devices.
